
Authorities have restored traffic to normal following a tragic collision in central Bangkok between a train and a bus near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station, which caused 8 deaths and 30 injuries.
From the accident titled " Train collides with bus" A freight train originating from Chachoengsao province and headed to Bang Sue station collided with air-conditioned bus route 206, running the Mega Bangna-Bang Khen route, near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station. This caused a severe fire on the bus, resulting in 8 fatalities and 30 injuries at approximately 15:40 on 16 May 2026.
Afterwards, officials recovered the bodies of all 8 victims trapped on bus route 206. The forensic police completed evidence collection and identification procedures. Related authorities used a large crane to move the bus and a locomotive to tow the damaged train away from the scene.
Most recently, the Facebook pageRatchathewi District Officereported the situation at 23:35, stating that officials had completed the removal of vehicles and obstacles from the area and reopened the roads to normal traffic.
They also thanked the public for cooperating by avoiding the area and following officials' instructions throughout the operation.
