Residents are alarmed as someone uses roadside traffic signs as target practice, leaving them full of bullet holes in Buriram Province. They call for investigations, fearing unsafe conditions at night.
On 17 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters received complaints from residents in Sakae Prong Subdistrict, Mueang Buriram District, that ill-intentioned individuals have been shooting at roadside traffic signs, damaging government property and causing fear among those using the route, especially at night. Reporters went to the area to verify the facts.
The incident occurred along a rural road between Ban Nong Phai in Sakae Prong Subdistrict and Ban Mueang Fang in Mueang Fang Subdistrict, Mueang Buriram District. Multiple bullet holes were found on a curve warning traffic sign, suggesting it has been used as a firearm test target.
Mr. Thongsuk Nuandee, 72, who drives a three-wheeled motorcycle taxi and regularly travels this route daily, said seeing the damaged traffic signs makes him feel unsafe, especially at night. He noted that groups of youths often ride motorcycles along the road after dark. He wants to warn those who act recklessly not to continue such behavior, as it frightens local residents.
Mr. Samrueng Ruangram, 66, a local resident, said he hopes relevant agencies will investigate thoroughly and take serious action against those causing trouble, especially by cracking down on illegal firearms, to ensure the safety and confidence of people traveling this route at night.
