Introducing a New Zebra Calf at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Naming Vote Coming Soon

Khao Kheow Open Zoo has successfully welcomed a healthy new zebra calf and will soon launch a public vote to choose its name.

On 17 May 2026 at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha district, Chonburi province, the zoo showcased its success in wildlife breeding by announcing the arrival of a new female zebra calf. The calf is in good health, walking closely with its mother, and is now open for visitors to see up close in the Africa animal exhibit area.

Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Chonburi, stated this is a proud achievement for the zoo. The female zebra calf was born on 15 April 2026 to a 7-year-old mother and a 9-year-old father. The calf is currently under close care and observation by the veterinary team and animal keepers.

Monitoring shows the zebra calf is healthy, lively, and behaving age-appropriately. It walks alongside and naturally nurses from its mother, who stays close by. With this new birth, the zoo now cares for a total of five zebras, including the new calf.

Mr. Narongwit added that the calf has not yet been named. The zoo plans to hold a special event soon to allow visitors and the public to join in a naming vote with prizes. Visitors and children are invited to enjoy the calf’s charm and take memorable photos daily at the Africa animal exhibit.
