A train collided with a bus near the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station, damaging an embassy's Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The case is under investigation.

In the incident, freight train number 2126 struck an orange air-conditioned bus (Por. 206), vehicle number 3-44197, running between Mega Bangna and Kasetsart University, license plate 12-5641, in Bangkok. The collision caused a fire, resulting in eight passenger deaths and 30 injuries. Multiple vehicles were damaged. The accident occurred near the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station on Asoke-Din Daeng Road, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district, at 15:42 on 16 May, amid widespread mourning.
