A pickup truck driver transporting workers recounted a near-death moment while stopped at a red light beside bus 206. He admitted it was a hard lesson and now avoids driving past the accident site, promising not to park overlapping railway tracks again.
Regarding the train-bus collision near the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station around 15:30 on 16 May 2026, the accident resulted in eight deaths at the scene and many injuries, as previously reported.
At 14:00 on 17 May 2026, at Makkasan Police Station, Mr. Saksri Srisai-kham, 49, driver of a bronze-gold Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup truck, license plate BP 4648 Yasothon, carrying construction workers to a site at Sukhumvit 15 from Rama 9 Road, reported that he stopped beside bus line 206, which was hit by the train. He said he came to file a police report. At the time of the accident, his truck was beside the bus parked on the railway tracks. He only briefly heard the train's warning sounds and did not see the train coming.
When the train arrived, events unfolded quickly, and he could not escape the vehicle in time. His truck was hit and dragged, as shown in CCTV footage. He and seven workers inside sustained injuries; two workers remain hospitalized. He suffered minor chest and rib injuries from impact. His truck sustained significant damage.
Mr. Saksri added that he often passed this spot but had never witnessed such an incident. Usually, barriers or metal gates would block the tracks when a train approached, but yesterday he saw none. He noted that sometimes vehicles park overlapping railway tracks during traffic jams.
Regarding compensation, representatives from the bus company have contacted him, offering assistance with compensation and vehicle repairs at this initial stage.
He stated he no longer dares to drive past the accident site and will avoid parking overlapping railway tracks. He admitted this incident taught him a significant lesson.
