Julpan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, stated regarding the freight train collision with a public bus on Asoke-Din Daeng Road that he immediately ordered the Social Security Office to urgently verify rights and provide assistance to insured persons without concern over medical expenses.

According to the latest report, the incident resulted in 8 deaths and 32 injuries. Among the injured, 9 are insured persons: 7 under Section 33 and 2 under Section 40. The Ministry of Labor has instructed the Social Security Office to fully facilitate benefits for the insured and their families.

Insured persons may continue to receive diagnostic, rehabilitation, and necessary medical treatment under social security benefits.

Furthermore, if a doctor orders medical leave, Section 33 insured persons who have exhausted their statutory sick leave under labor law but still require rest will be entitled to income loss compensation at 50% of wages for up to 90 days. Section 40 insured persons who have fulfilled contribution conditions receive income loss compensation: 300 baht per day for inpatient treatment and 200 baht per day for doctor-certified home rest, for up to 30 days under options 1 and 2. Section 40 option 3 insured persons receive compensation for up to 90 days.
