19 May 2026 GMT+7Meteorological Department websiteAnnouncement regarding "Heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand and strong winds over the Andaman Sea, bulletin no. 14 (74/2569), effective until 21 May 2026." It stated that from 19–21 May 2026, rainfall will increase in Thailand, with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas.
Most of the heavy rain will occur in the western parts of the country, including the northern region, upper northeastern region, central region, eastern region, and the western coast of the south. This is due to a rather strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, combined with a low-pressure area over northern coastal Vietnam. Residents in these areas are advised to beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones.
Waves and winds over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are quite strong. In the upper Andaman Sea from Phuket province northward, waves are 2–3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
In the lower Andaman Sea from Krabi province southward and in the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are about 2 meters high, with waves over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these zones should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm conditions. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore during this period.
