Heavy Rain Hits Phetchabun, Flash Flood from Santa Phea Mountain Floods Village for Second Time

Heavy rain struck Phetchabun, causing flash floods from Santa Phea Mountain to inundate a village for the second time, prompting police to drive through the area issuing warnings.

On 20 May 2026, reporters reported that on the evening of 19 May 2026, heavy rain fell in several areas of Phetchabun Province, especially in Ban Tok Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchabun District. Previously, on 13 May 2026, heavy rain caused flash floods that damaged dozens of homes in this area.

This time, heavy rain fell on the mountain called "Santa Phea" located west of the village, and rain also continued for several hours in the village area. Afterwards, it began to ease but still drizzled intermittently, causing flash floods to surge down from the mountain more severely than before.

However, patrol officers from Ban Tok police station in Mueang Phetchabun deployed patrol cars with loudspeakers to warn residents in low-lying areas to move their belongings to higher ground to prevent flood damage.

Although this time the water volume was greater than before, villagers and local government officials had cleaned canals and removed blockages, especially near the bridgehead, allowing water to flow more freely. As a result, floodwaters overflowed into residential areas less extensively. The incident occurred early enough that villagers were still awake and could secure their property in time, preventing losses. Water levels receded to normal around 9:30 p.m.
