A Myanmar man contacted authorities to claim his wife’s body, a victim of a train-bus collision, but is still facing document issues and must wait for embassy coordination. After seeing the condition of the body, he fainted on the spot, unable to accept the sudden loss.
At 11:30 a.m. on 20 May 2026, relatives of Ms. Aye Aye Myint, 36, a Myanmar national and victim of the train-bus collision, came to request her body at the Forensic Institute of Police General Hospital. Amid a deeply sorrowful atmosphere, when her boyfriend and family entered to identify the body, they broke down in tears. The boyfriend even fainted, overwhelmed by the sudden loss.
The family revealed that Aye Aye Myint was the breadwinner, having come to work as a laborer in Thailand to send money back to support her parents and family in Myanmar. On the day of the accident, she had boarded the bus only a few stops before the tragic and violent collision with the train that caused her death.
However, the relatives have not yet been able to take the body home for religious rites due to document procedures and coordination with the Myanmar embassy. They must wait for these processes to be completed, amid the grief of family and loved ones still struggling to come to terms with the incident.
