His Majesty the King Elevates Five Public Temples to Royal Monasteries

The Royal Gazette announced that His Majesty the King has graciously elevated five public temples to the status of "Royal Monasteries" in honor of Her Majesty the Queen, on the occasion of the grand royal ceremony celebrating her 80th birthday on 3 June 2026.

On 20 May 2026, the Royal Gazette website published an announcement elevating public temples to royal monasteries. It stated that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has commanded the elevation of five public temples to "Royal Monasteries" to honor Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of the grand royal ceremony celebrating her 80th birthday on 3 June 2026, as follows.

1.Salakhodam Temple, Kabin Buri District, Sing Buri Province.An ancient monastery dating back to the Ayutthaya period. His Majesty has graciously elevated Salakhodam Temple to a third-class ordinary royal monastery.

2.Ratchapradit Temple (Wat Phako), Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province.An ancient monastery whose name historically signifies a royal temple. His Majesty has graciously elevated Ratchapradit Temple to a third-class ordinary royal monastery.

3.Pa Saeng Arun Forest Temple, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province.Established by the senior meditation masters in the lineage of Phra Kru Vinai Thon (Mun Bhuridatta). His Majesty has graciously elevated Pa Saeng Arun Temple to a third-class ordinary royal monastery.

4.Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, Ko Kha District, Lampang Province.An important monastery historically paired with the city of Lampang. His Majesty has graciously elevated Wat Phra That Lampang Luang to a third-class ordinary royal monastery.

5.Asokaram Temple, Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province.A model monastery for meditation studies established by Phra Suthidhamma Rangsi, Khamphi Methacharn (Lee Thammatharo) in 1955. His Majesty has graciously elevated Asokaram Temple to a third-class ordinary royal monastery.

This elevation takes effect from 17 May 2026.

The announcement was made on 19 May 2026, the 11th year of the current reign.
