8th Body from Train-Bus Collision Confirmed Male DNA Tested by Woman from Sukhothai Suspected as Relative

Police forensic chief confirms the 8th body is male due to absence of a uterus. Recently, a woman from Sukhothai came to collect DNA for comparison, suspecting it to be her younger brother, as no contact has been possible since the incident.

At 10:30 a.m. on 21 May 2026, Police Major General Wirul Supasinghsiriprecha, Commander of the Police Hospital Forensics Division, reported that identification of all eight deceased has been completed. Seven bodies have been identified, and six have been returned to their families. Meanwhile, two remain under document processing with the Makkasan Police Station.

Regarding three body parts—an arm, a foot, and a hand—these were separated due to heat damage causing detachment or fragmentation. They do not belong to a single individual. All parts have been matched and reassembled, as most bodies were not severely damaged.

The Forensics Division commander added that the main issue concerns the 8th body. Examination confirmed it is male based on DNA results and internal examination showing no uterus. However, it is unclear whether the individual is Thai or foreign, as DNA and skin traits among ASEAN nationals are similar to Thais, making differentiation difficult.

Previously, no relatives had contacted authorities regarding the 8th body, but hope arose when a close associate, a coworker, inquired yesterday. They suspected their friend went missing around the time of the incident and remains unreachable. Since there is no blood relation, investigators are currently interviewing to find ways to contact relatives and collect DNA from possible missing persons. Meanwhile, a sister of the deceased traveled from Sukhothai and is undergoing questioning to find connections before forensic comparison of DNA or submitted evidence with the remaining bodies.
