Delivery Worker Alarmed by Police Threat to Conduct Drug Test, Claims Threatening Language at Lam Thamenchai Police Station

A delivery worker's video exposing police at Lam Thamenchai Police Station demanding a urine test with threatening behavior and foul language has sparked widespread criticism. The officers claimed the vehicle was parked in a location known for repeated drug trafficking incidents. The employer has now ordered an official inquiry.

The issue has drawn online criticism after a 27-year-old private parcel delivery worker shared a video showing a Lam Thamenchai police officer approaching on a marked motorcycle to conduct a sudden search and urine test for drugs. This occurred after the worker had parked his motorcycle under a tree at Ban Or, Phai Subdistrict, Lam Thamenchai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to make a call to a customer.

The officer said the location was a known hotspot for frequent drug trafficking. The worker asserted his innocence and requested to be tested at the police station, feeling unsafe because the officer used offensive language and displayed intimidating behavior. He subsequently filed an official complaint to document the incident.

On 21 May 2026, Pol. Col. Kamnan Baikratok, chief of Lam Thamenchai Police Station, told reporters by phone that the station is taking the matter seriously and has promptly ordered a fact-finding committee to ensure fairness for both parties. Preliminary checks confirm the location has historically been a site for drug-related arrests.

The officer seen in the video is a traffic police officer who was on his way home after his shift. Upon noticing a vehicle parked in a known risk zone, he became suspicious and conducted the check. It appears the delivery worker happened to park there by coincidence to call a customer for directions.

Regarding the use of inappropriate language, including the words "gu" and "mueng" (Thai informal pronouns), the police chief acknowledged this as improper conduct towards the public and said it would be addressed as a disciplinary issue. He confirmed no allegations of bribery or physical assault arose during the operation. Investigators have been instructed to contact the victim for further statements, assuring his safety and that justice will be served.
