The fire at the rooftop of a downtown Pattaya hotel has been contained. Tourists were urgently evacuated amid chaos. The number of injured has risen to four, with the most severe case involving burns and smoke inhalation.
At 21:30 on 21 May 2026, the Pattaya City Disaster Prevention Center (Pattaya Fire Department) received a report of a severe fire on the rooftop of a hotel located on North Pattaya Road 3, Moo 6, Naklua Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Upon receiving the alert, fire trucks and aerial platforms were dispatched along with police from Pattaya City Police Station and rescue teams from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, Pattaya.
The scene involved a 7-story hotel where intense flames were visible on the rooftop (7th floor), which houses a swimming pool. The fire spread widely across the building, visible from a considerable distance due to flames and smoke. Firefighters quickly concentrated on dousing the fire while urgently evacuating guests from the hotel.
Additionally, four people were injured in the incident. Three suffered from smoke inhalation: two Thai women and an Indonesian boy. The fourth was a Thai man who sustained burns over more than 20% of his body after running through the flames and also suffered smoke inhalation. Rescue and medical teams promptly transported all victims to a nearby hospital.
Firefighters have now brought the situation under control but continue to spray water. At present, there are no visible flames, only smoke remains. Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyu, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station, and Mr. Anusak Piriyomorn, Chief District Officer of Bang Lamung, along with relevant officials, are on site investigating the cause and continuing to evacuate nearly all occupants from the building.
The firefighting team is still searching to determine if anyone remains trapped inside, as the hotel confirmed nearly full occupancy today (the hotel has a total of 173 rooms). It has been confirmed that 120 rooms were occupied, with an estimated minimum of 240 guests staying. Authorities are conducting a thorough verification.
Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
