Chiang Saen Hospital Clarifies Temporary Doctor Shortage Issue in June, Assures Normal Patient Care

Chiang Saen Hospital clarifies announcementof a "doctor shortage"stating it is only temporary during the staff transition in June and confirming coordination with network hospitals to rotate doctors, allowing continuous service provision.

On 20 May 2016, Chiang Saen Hospital announced service adjustments during a doctor shortage situation (June) stating that in June, the hospital is facing a doctor shortage due to four doctors resigning and pursuing further studies. The hospital is awaiting additional doctor allocations from central authorities. Despite coordinating support from network hospitals, many areas face similar issues, limiting manpower availability.

Therefore, the hospital musttemporarily adjustservice delivery methods, which may result in longer wait times. The hospital mustprioritizeemergency and critical patients first to ensure prompt care and reduce crowding, and requests cooperation from everyone..

Recently, Dr. Chanokporn Jaipinto, Director of Chiang Saen Hospital, explained that the announcement aimed to prepare the public and clarify the situation, emphasizing the doctor shortage is only temporary during June.

Dr. Chanokporn explained that June each year is a period of medical staff transition, including doctors leaving for further studies or changing careers. This year, four doctors left the system, creating a short-term staffing gap.

Regarding solutions, the hospital director stated the hospital is actively cooperating with the Chiang Rai Provincial Public Health Office and 17 network hospitals in the province to rotate doctors to support Chiang Saen Hospital and maintain uninterrupted services.

"During working hours, we receive support from nearby hospitals to care for patients with minimal service disruption. After hours, staff may be stretched, but the hospital has allocated resources to maintain patient care standards," she added.

To maximize service efficiency, the hospital director asks the public to seek care during working hours for non-urgent or mild symptoms so the network-supported system can function optimally. Minor ailments can be treated at local health centers or quality pharmacies nearby.

Additionally, for those concerned about wait times, the hospital offers telemedicine services and advance appointment systems. Further information is available on the hospital's Facebook page or by phone.

"We assure the public that the hospital and Ministry of Public Health are sincerely committed to providing full care. If any period is critical, the province will coordinate to rotate staff immediately to ensure continuous and safe services," Dr. Chanokporn confirmed.Dr. Chanokporn reaffirmed this.

Dr. Ekachai Kamlue, Chiang Rai Provincial Public Health Doctor, said the provincial office closely monitors the situation and manages staffing with local facilities to ensure continuous and effective medical services.

"Chiang Rai province confirms that the public can still access medical services normally, especially emergency and critical patients who will receive full care. We manage all aspects to minimize impacts on the public," he said.
