
An explosion occurred injuring a Border Patrol Police instructor at Phra Ram 6 Camp, Phetchaburi Province, causing severe injuries while preparing training equipment. Authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent unauthorized entry. The 1st Division, Special Training Command has issued a clarification.
On 22 May 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Saiyon Khunnokhum, Deputy Chief Investigator of Cha-am Police Station, and Police Sub Lieutenant Sakda Simuang, Patrol Officer, were notified of an explosion injuring an instructor inside the field hospital at Phra Ram 6 Camp, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province. They promptly proceeded to investigate.
At the scene, one instructor was found injured. He was identified as Police Sergeant Major Saksit Phukingngoen, 51, suffering severe hand injuries. His body bore deep shrapnel wounds, his vital signs were weak, and blood was pooling on the floor. Field hospital staff immediately administered advanced first aid, controlled the bleeding, stabilized him, and urgently transferred him to Hua Hin Hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that before the incident, the instructor was preparing equipment and explosive devices for teaching purposes. However, one of the explosives detonated unexpectedly, injuring him. Commanders ordered the area to be sealed off, strictly barring unrelated personnel, while awaiting Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and forensic teams to collect evidence and examine the scene thoroughly.
The 1st Division, Special Training Command of the Border Patrol Police Headquarters (BPPH) at Phra Ram 6 Camp expressed deep condolences over the explosion involving training explosives that occurred earlier today. To ensure accurate understanding and prevent misconceptions, the camp clarified that the injured police officer is an instructor assigned to duties in the area and is not a personnel member of Phra Ram 6 Camp. The injured individual is currently receiving initial treatment at Hua Hin Hospital and arrangements are underway to urgently transfer him to Police General Hospital for further care. Phra Ram 6 Camp extends its full support and best wishes for his recovery.
