Hoping to lighten financial burdens, residents lined up tightly at the bank to prepare for registration. "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" Most encountered problems "Facial scans failed"
On 23 May 2026, reporters reported that at Krungthai Bank, Nong Chang branch, Nong Chang district, Uthai Thani province, although it was a bank holiday, the branch opened specially to assist the public in preparing to register for the Thai Chuey Thai Plus (60/40) program. People came from five districts: Ban Rai, Huai Khot, Lan Sak, Nong Chang, Sawang Arom, and Mueang district.
Uthai Thani province has two Krungthai Bank branches but neither opens on holidays, so people flocked to the Nong Chang branch, filling both the front and inside of the bank, hoping to register for the Thai Chuey Thai Plus (60/40) program before the government’s deadline from 25 to 29 May. Even though it rained intermittently, no one gave up; they sat waiting in line outside the bank for staff to call them. Some tried facial scans at the ATM, but encountered failures.
Ms. Pilak Watthanaphong, 50, said she arrived early, traveling by bus from Ban Bueng Haeng, Lan Sak district, Uthai Thani, a round trip of over 70 kilometers, bringing her father and mother along. She packed food and medicine in case she had to wait from morning until afternoon. She even bought her mother a new smartphone, unsure if it was worth it, but hoped it would help ease daily expenses. She tried scanning her face multiple times on the phone but it never worked, so she had to come to the bank in person.
