Songkhla Hosts Grand Songkhla Vintage Festival to Celebrate Community Ways of Life, Enhancing Residents Quality of Life

Songkhla organizes an event called the "Songkhla Vintage Festival 2026: Celebrating Community Ways of Life by the Two Seas" aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents and promoting "Ko Yo" as a sustainable cultural tourism destination.


At 7:00 p.m. on 25 May 2026 GMT+7, at Wat Laem Pho, Ko Yo Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District, Mr. Rattasat Chitchu, Governor of Songkhla Province, assigned Mr. Jirawat Maneechot, Deputy Governor of Songkhla, to preside over the press conference announcing the event. The "Songkhla Vintage Festival 2026" was attended by Mrs. Sasiphen Lamaiphan, Songkhla Provincial Cultural Officer, along with heads of government agencies, representatives from public and private sectors, and members of the media.

Mr. Jirawat Maneechot, Deputy Governor of Songkhla, said the province is an important city with a long history and is distinguished by its diverse local arts, culture, and wisdom. This event aligns with the province's development plans in tourism, sports, and quality services, focusing on community-based tourism, cultural tourism, and the creative economy to generate jobs, income, and improve residents' quality of life.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Sasiphen Lamaiphan, Songkhla Provincial Cultural Officer, said the festival features various activities such as cultural identity parades around Songkhla Lake, traditional folk art performances including Nang Talung shadow puppetry and Nora dance, demonstrations and sales of local wisdom products, exhibitions of community lifestyle and tourism routes by the two seas people, contests for local cuisine, Nang Talung puppet carving and bamboo shoot weaving, Thai and local fabric fashion shows, as well as cultural and tourism-themed discussions.

The event "Songkhla Vintage Festival 2026: Celebrating Community Ways of Life by the Two Seas" is scheduled from 29 to 31 May 2026 GMT+7, aiming to establish Ko Yo as a sustainable cultural tourism site by showcasing the community’s identity, lifestyle, and cultural assets widely through activities that allow tourists to learn about and experience authentic local food, handicrafts, cultural performances, and the way of life of the Songkhla Lake basin communities.

Additionally, there will be performances by famous luk thung singer Bum Pacharee, and luk thung music performances from schools across Songkhla throughout the three-day event. Admission is free for the public and tourists to enjoy the charm of the Songkhla Lake basin community way of life and to help preserve the valuable local cultural heritage.
