Watch the Battle for Pattaya Mayor: 3 Candidates Lead Teams to Register for Election

The registration atmosphere opened with lively activity. The "Pattaya mayoral election" was vibrant as prospective candidates gradually came to pay respects to King Taksin, seeking auspicious blessings before entering the competition for Pattaya's city management.

Today (28 May 2026 GMT+7), reporters reported that the registration for the Pattaya mayoral election in Chonburi Province, held at the Pattaya City Hall, was lively. Since 06:59, prospective mayoral candidates and their teams for the city council from all four districts arrived to pay homage to Pattaya's sacred symbols and sought blessings at the King Taksin the Great monument for good fortune prior to the official registration process.

Regarding this Pattaya mayoral election battle, it has been confirmed that three teams are running for the mayoral seat: 1. The incumbent "We Love Pattaya" group, 2. The representative from the People’s Party, and 3. Pattaya 2030 group. Each has also nominated full teams to contest all three city council districts.

The first person to arrive at the registration venue was Mr. Ittiwat Watanasatathorn from the People’s Party. Under the slogan "Pattaya for Everyone," he arrived accompanied by his elder brother, Mr. Sinchai Watanasatathorn, a former Pattaya mayoral candidate in 2022.

The second person was Mr. Poramet Ngampichet, leader of the We Love Pattaya group. With the slogan "Do It, Done, Continue," he led prospective city council candidates arriving by electric songthaew.

The last to arrive was Mr. Sakdichai Tangho from the Pattaya 2030 team, under the slogan "Mayor 24 Hours."

The morning registration atmosphere was orderly, with police from Pattaya City Police Station and relevant officials providing strict security and assistance at the registration site.

. Mr. Poramet Ngampichet, the prospective mayor from the We Love Pattaya group, shared his vision for a "Better Pattaya, a world-class tourist city with international quality of life." He emphasized policies building on projects from the past four years, driving three main goals through 33 policies covering the economy, society, environment, technology, and city management.

Previously, Pattaya had completed many projects and had others nearing completion. He expressed the desire to continue this path, "Do It, Done, Continue." Especially focusing on elevating Pattaya as a world-class tourist city alongside improving residents' quality of life.

The main policies are divided into three goals: 1. Economic development aimed at generating income, making Pattaya a city of festivals and conferences; 2. Social and environmental quality emphasizing quality of life, education, youth, and environmental management; and 3. Technology and city management pushing Pattaya toward a tangible Smart City.

Regarding the environment, Pattaya produces over 600 tons of waste daily, necessitating rapid progress on a second waste incinerator within the city after the one on Koh Larn has been completed. Additionally, plans aim to increase wastewater treatment capacity from 65,000 to 150,000 cubic meters per day.

For flood issues, Pattaya has continuously addressed them. The number of flood points decreased from 24 to 9, with only 3 areas still frequently flooded. They plan to implement the Water Crisis Center system to monitor and assess water levels in pipes, install cameras to oversee drainage systems, and set up digital warning signs to manage rainfall and water drainage effectively.

Plans also include sports development, notably completing a delayed football stadium project expected within about 8 months, alongside establishing indoor stadiums, volleyball courts, and training fields to support international sports events.

Regarding quality of life, there will be promotion of education, children, youth, and families, increasing opportunities for upper secondary education, and developing a "Happiness Center" as an activity space for all ages to spend leisure time together and continuously improve themselves.

Mr. Poramet also described the Smart City approach, saying Pattaya will install and link over 600 CCTV cameras citywide with AI to enhance security, detect crimes, manage traffic, and evaluate drainage issues. They will also develop a Digital Twin to promote tourism business, meetings, and showcase hotel and venue capabilities internationally.

Meanwhile, Pattaya plans to improve several roads affected by underground electrical system installation, waterworks, and flood management projects. Currently, railway-adjacent roads are being repaired, with plans to upgrade key roads such as the one in front of Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, Pattaya Second Road, and Jomtien Road to ensure good road conditions, bright lighting, and increased safety for residents and tourists.

Mr. Poramet concluded that their campaign strategy is to communicate to the public what has been accomplished, which projects succeeded and their impacts, while presenting new policies under the concept "Do It, Done, Continue" to generate income, elevate the city, and continuously improve residents’ quality of life.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ittiwat Watanasatathorn, prospective Pattaya mayoral candidate, revealed plans to campaign citywide with 37 policies under the concept "Pattaya for Everyone." After over six months of listening to residents’ concerns across four districts, these policies aim to address all occupational groups. Key policies include a 24-hour childcare center to support night-shift workers, tackling education issues, and advocating for equal water prices on Koh Larn. During campaigning, his team has prepared to visit residents in South Pattaya, Central Pattaya, and Naklua to communicate their platform and hear concerns directly.

Over the past six months, he and his prospective city council candidates have continuously surveyed community issues and needs, developing the "37 Pattaya for Everyone Policies" to address problems comprehensively. A key policy is establishing a 24-hour childcare center to support children of parents working night shifts, such as hotel and entertainment staff, who are vital to Pattaya's tourism workforce.

Additionally, education policies focus on resolving the issue of students finishing grade 9 without opportunities to continue to upper secondary education, with plans to expand educational access locally.

Regarding public utilities, Mr. Ittiwat expressed a desire to push for "equal water supply pricing," ensuring all residents receive water services at the same standard, especially on Koh Larn, where residents currently use RO water at a high cost of about 70 baht per unit. He proposed supplying tap water from the mainland to Koh Larn to reduce living expenses.

Mr. Ittiwat confirmed his team is confident campaigning in all four districts, having continuously listened to public concerns, and believes their policies comprehensively address Pattaya's future development needs.

As for Mr. Sakdichai Tangho of the Pattaya 2030 team, he revealed his main policies focus on eradicating corruption, managing gray capital, and organizing the city, while seriously addressing waste problems. The core issues residents commonly report are corruption, the influence of gray capital groups, and urban disorder, all directly affecting Pattaya’s image and residents’ quality of life.

He confirmed that if entrusted with city management, he would prioritize three key areas: combating corruption, managing gray capital issues, and organizing Pattaya city to build trust among residents and tourists.

He also emphasized the importance of solving waste problems, a significant accumulated issue for this tourist city. Plans include pushing for systematic waste management covering collection, sorting, and raising environmental awareness to keep Pattaya clean, orderly, and sustainably livable.

After the mayoral candidates drew their numbers, the results were:

  • Mr. Ittiwat Watanasatathorn was assigned number 1.
  • Mr. Poramet Ngampichet was assigned number 2.
  • Mr. Sakdichai Tangho was assigned number 3.
