Elderly and New Mothers Queue with Babies to Register for Thai Chuey Thai Plus, Hope for 4,000 Baht Payout

Chainat shows strong determination as elderly and new mothers carrying babies wait in line to verify their identity via the Paotang app at the bank, hoping to receive the 4,000 baht payout under Thai Chuey Thai Plus.

On 28 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered the atmosphere at Krungthai Bank, Chainat City branch, where registration for the Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40 scheme had entered its fourth day.

Today, a large number of people continued to arrive to verify their identity through the Paotang app and register for the benefit, facing various issues such as failed identity verification, mismatched information like changed phone numbers, outdated app versions, forgotten passwords, and elderly people unfamiliar with the process due to distant family members.

Reporters on site at Krungthai Bank, Chainat branch, found the area in front of the counters crowded with people waiting for service with no available seats. The bank arranged extra chairs in the parking lot for those registering and resolving issues, distributing queue cards and calling customers in order to maintain organization.

Observations showed some arrived as early as 6 a.m., though the bank opened at 8:30 a.m. The hot weather and long wait times caused some elderly attendees to become fatigued, with some falling asleep or frequently using inhalants to stay alert.

Meanwhile, some new mothers carried their sleeping babies on their chests. Despite difficulties, everyone waited patiently and determinedly. One of those waiting was Ms. Saman Phoolpatthana, 69, from Chainat Municipality Market, who told reporters she had come to the bank the day before but left before her turn due to hunger and the heat. Today, she arrived at 6:30 a.m. and only received a queue card at 9:30 a.m., intending to get help from bank staff to successfully access the Paotang app.

Ms. Saman further explained her hardship, saying if she received aid from this program, she would buy rice, dried food, detergent, soap, toothpaste, and snacks to stock up. She earns her main income selling fried meatballs in Chainat Municipality, but sales have declined recently to only 200-300 baht daily, or at best 500 baht, which is equal to her daily production costs. This contrasts with the past when sales and profits were higher. She hopes to rely on this government aid to help sustain her livelihood and reduce household expenses.
