Former MP Candidate Suaynee Joins Pattaya Mayor Race as Independent, Assigned Number 4

Suaynee Charoensuk, a former MP candidate, has entered the race for Pattaya mayor as an independent, receiving candidate number 4, while some city council teams have yet to agree on their numbers and await a lottery draw for allocation.

On 28 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after the first day of registrations for Pattaya mayor and city council members at the Pattaya City Hall, Chonburi Province, the mayoral candidates drew their numbers as follows: Mr. Itthiwat Watthanastatsorn from the People’s Party received number 1, Mr. Poramet Ngampiches, leader of the We Love Pattaya group, got number 2, and Mr. Sakchai Tangho from the Pattaya 2030 team was assigned number 3.Read more: Watch the Pattaya mayor race as three candidates and their teams register to run.)

Meanwhile, in the city council member registrations, some teams could not agree on candidate numbers, requiring a lottery to decide numbers for the independent candidates and the Pattaya 2030 team, which has candidates for all four districts but fewer than six candidates per district.

The We Love Pattaya team and the People’s Party, which also submitted city council candidates, are expected to register in the afternoon of the same day.

Later at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Suaynee Charoensuk, former MP candidate for Chonburi’s 9th district, arrived to submit his documents to run for Pattaya mayor as an independent and was assigned candidate number 4.

Mr. Suaynee said his decision to run stems from a deep connection to Pattaya as a native resident. His family has lived in the area since 1932, and having witnessed the city’s development over more than 40 years, he wants to contribute to Pattaya’s growth in a direction that aligns with the area’s potential.

He added that Pattaya still has gaps in infrastructure and urban strategy that need to be addressed, especially the city’s role in facilitating business and tourism, which are key economic drivers. He emphasized that basic problems like flooding, roads, electricity, lighting, and public utilities require urgent attention to build a strong investment and tourism image.

Regarding his campaign approach, Mr. Suaynee confirmed he will continuously engage with residents in person. Although running as an independent, he has long worked actively in the community both through direct visits and social media, so he is confident locals remain familiar with and accessible to him.

Mr. Suaynee also stated that although he is not fielding a large city council team, he believes the city administration can recruit knowledgeable and capable personnel to collaborate. He affirmed that local politics should focus on solving citizens’ problems rather than engaging in political attacks.

This means the Pattaya mayoral election officially has four candidates: Mr. Itthiwat Watthanastatsorn (No. 1), Mr. Poramet Ngampiches (No. 2), Mr. Sakchai Tangho (No. 3), and Mr. Suaynee Charoensuk (No. 4), amid increasingly intense local political competition ahead of the 28 June 2026 election.
