Meteorological Department Issues 5th Warning: Heavy Rain Across Thailand with Several Provinces on Alert for Flash Floods and Mudslides

The Meteorological Department has issued its 5th bulletin warning of heavy rain in Thailand. It lists provinces to watch for flash floods and mudslides, effective from 29 May to 1 June 2026.

On 29 May 2026, the Meteorological Department announced heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand and strong winds over the Andaman Sea in its 5th bulletin, effective from 29 May to 1 June 2026.

It stated that from 29 May to 1 June 2026, rainfall will increase with heavy rain in many areas, especially in the South, East, western parts of the North, and Central regions. This is due to the strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a monsoon trough passing through upper Thailand.

The public in Thailand is urged to prepare for dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mudslides, particularly in areas near waterways and low-lying zones.

Waves and winds in the upper Andaman Sea, from Phuket province northward, are quite strong, with wave heights of 2 to 3 meters. In areas with thunderstorms, waves exceed 3 meters. In the lower Andaman Sea, from Krabi province southward, and the upper Gulf of Thailand, waves reach about 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm zones.

Boaters in these areas are advised to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm conditions. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from departing during this period.

Provinces expected to be affected by heavy rain include:

29 May 2026

30 May 2026

31 May 2026

1 June 2026
