The Meteorological Department issues a final announcement warning several provinces of heavy to very heavy rainfall which may cause flash floods and rapid runoff
1 June 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department's websiteannounces "Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand and strong winds in the Andaman Sea" In its 12th announcement, it states that Thailand continues to experience rainfall, including heavy rain in some areas, especially very heavy rain in parts of the western southern region
This is due to the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, the south, and the Gulf of Thailand with considerable strength, combined with a monsoon trough passing through northern Thailand. The public in Thailand is advised to prepare for and be cautious of heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and rapid runoff, especially in areas near waterways and low-lying areas.
Regarding sea conditions in the upper Andaman Sea, from Phuket province northward, winds are quite strong with waves 2-3 meters high; in areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 3 meters. In the lower Andaman Sea, from Krabi province southward, waves reach about 2 meters, with waves over 2 meters during thunderstorms. Mariners in these areas are advised to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea area are advised to stay ashore during this period.
