
More than 80 police officers descended on Ban Tikrong to seek clues to solve the "Nong Ongun" case, collecting fingerprints and DNA from men in the village and questioning over 20 surrounding witnesses.
In the latest development of the case involving the body of 7-year-old Nong Ongun found in a rubber plantation in Ban Tikrong, Prang Phlo Subdistrict, Sangkhla Buri District, Kanchanaburi Province, at 10:00 a.m. on 3 June 2026, Police Colonel Mana Samranwong, Chief of Investigations for Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, and Police Colonel Santi Pitaksakul, Chief of Sangkhla Buri Police Station, along with investigators from Region 7, Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, Sangkhla Buri Police, and Border Patrol Police Unit 134 (Sangkhla Buri), totaling over 80 officers, jointly conducted operations in Ban Tikrong. They divided into five teams to investigate and gather further evidence. Four foreign workers involved in construction at Tikrong Monastery were also summoned for DNA sampling.
Today, investigative teams from Region 7 and Kanchanaburi Province have questioned more than 20 related individuals and witnesses. These were grouped into family members, grocery store owners, Myanmar residents, monks from Tikrong Monastery, and construction workers at the monastery.
Last night, forensic officers from Kanchanaburi Province collected DNA samples from five workers currently building at the monastery, to be sent for comparison. The examination is expected to take 3 to 5 days.
At Nong Ongun’s home in Village 4, Prang Phlo Subdistrict, Sangkhla Buri District, police invited men from the village to provide fingerprint and DNA samples. Additionally, investigative teams from Region 7 questioned villagers who had encountered Nong Ongun.
Meanwhile, Nong Ongun’s family gathered today at the Tikrong Monastery pavilion to await updates from the police and inquired about the progress of the investigation.
