Fire Erupts at Popular Resort in Nan Province, Multiple Buildings Damaged, Suspected Electrical Short Circuit

A fire broke out inside a popular resort in Phu Phiang District, Nan Province, damaging the office building, restaurant, and coffee shop. It is suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause.

On the morning of 3 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Pornthep In-ai, an investigator at Phu Phiang Police Station, Nan Province, received a report from Nan City Radio Center 191 about a fire at a resort in Tha Nao Subdistrict, Phu Phiang District, Nan Province. He informed Pol. Col. Chanyut Chaiyamano, superintendent of Phu Phiang Police Station, and relevant agencies before heading to the scene to investigate.

At the scene, officials from Tha Nao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Faikaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang Teud Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Napang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nan Provincial Administrative Organization, local rescue and emergency units, and the Nan Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department arrived with fire trucks and personnel to control the blaze. Deputy Mayor Warrant Officer Nat Thiansut of Nan Municipality led the firefighting operations.

Upon inspection, the fire was found to be burning the resort’s office building and spreading to a wooden building housing the restaurant and coffee shop. Firefighters took approximately two hours to contain the blaze within a limited area, preventing it from spreading to other buildings.

Initial findings show that the office building and some other structures were damaged by the fire. The value of the damage is still being assessed. The cause is believed to be an electrical short circuit. Police and relevant agencies are investigating and gathering evidence to determine the true cause.

This incident serves as an important warning for hotel, resort, restaurant operators, and other businesses to regularly inspect electrical systems, fire prevention equipment, and maintain emergency response plans to prevent potential loss of life and property.
