Two perspectives on the lottery drama: A 54-year-old woman claimed she had a neighbor check her lottery tickets and was happy to have won the first prize. Later, she said she did not win and recently reported the lottery tickets missing. Meanwhile, the neighbor insists the tickets were returned to her.
At 09:30 on 5 June 2026, reporters visited a house in Village No. 8, Pak Nam Subdistrict, Sawankhalok District, Sukhothai Province. This is the home of Ms. Saian, 54, who had purchased three lottery tickets and asked a neighbor to check them. It was found that one ticket matched the first prize number 173770, but the ticket subsequently went missing.
Ms. Saian said that on the evening of 31 May 2026, she ordered three lottery tickets from 'Je Haeng' at a roadside stall at the entrance of Pak Nam Subdistrict. On the morning of 1 June 2026, she collected the three tickets, costing 300 baht, which were sewn together.
After the government lottery results were announced around 7 p.m., she gave the tickets to a neighbor to check. It turned out that one ticket won the first prize. The neighbor hugged her in celebration and asked if she wanted to leave the tickets with her. She agreed and did not take the tickets back home.
On the morning of 2 June 2026, she went back to the neighbor, who then told her the tickets did not win. Later, when news came out that someone had won the first prize, she returned to ask again, but was told the tickets had been checked and thrown into a nearby trash bin. She immediately searched through the trash. She remembered the three tickets were sewn together: the first numbered 579015, the second 173770, and the third 265873. She found only two tickets, numbers 579015 and 265873; the winning ticket 173770 was missing.
Ms. Pornpan, 32, the daughter of Ms. Saian, said they now have only two tickets back, with the middle one apparently missing. Initially, they were told the ticket won the first prize, but later were told one digit was wrong. They are still searching for the winning ticket and have filed a police report at Sawankhalok Police Station.
The reporter spoke with the neighbor who checked the tickets. She said she and her relatives were eating and checking lottery tickets in front of the house when Ms. Saian came over and asked her to check for two- or three-digit wins. She checked the tickets on her phone and found all three tickets were not winning. She returned the tickets to Ms. Saian, who then left. The neighbor said this was the first time Ms. Saian had brought tickets for checking. After returning the tickets, Ms. Saian left the house.
Reporters visited the lottery stall where Ms. Saian bought the tickets. Surveillance footage shows Ms. Saian purchasing lottery tickets on the morning of 1 June 2026.
Retired police officer and stall owner Lt. Col. Charan Phumpuang said Ms. Saian came on a motorcycle to buy three sewn tickets on the morning of 1 June 2026. The only ticket ending with '770' he had was one. He confirmed the three tickets Ms. Saian bought were 579015, 173770, and 265873. He had photographed the tickets before putting them up for sale and confirmed that the winning ticket was sold at his stall.
Pol. Col. Nikom Phromphiram, chief of Sawankhalok Police Station, said the police have examined all sides of the case. If the tickets were purchased and did not win, there must be evidence of the tickets. The authorities are gathering all evidence and are currently conducting an investigation.
