Startling "Giant Python" slithered over a car's side mirror after a special snake-capturing unit helped villagers catch it, but it escaped during transport for release back into the wild. Lottery fans did not miss the chance to note the car's license plate number for lucky digits.
On 6 Jun 2026 GMT+7, reporters received a clip of a python slithering over a car's side mirror from Mr. Keerin Chamsomboon, head of the Phrom Akat Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao province. Initially, many thought it was an AI-generated clip, but upon inquiry, it was confirmed true. The clip shows the snake escaping while being released after the team helped villagers catch it. The python’s tail caught on the mirror, and its body was draped over the car's side mirror.
Upon interviewing Mr. Keerin Chamsomboon, head of Phrom Akat SAO, and Ms. Chonlathicha Nopasophon, Chachoengsao Provincial Council member, both featured in the clip, they shared the incident details. Mr. Keerin revealed the clip was recorded yesterday (5 Jun) while they were responding to villagers' complaints in Village 18, Phrom Akat Subdistrict, Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao, alongside Ms. Chonlathicha and mostly female SAO staff.
Then, a villager ran over seeking help to catch a python that had been eating chickens. They hesitated to call SAO staff from the office fearing the snake would escape due to the distance from Village 18 to the SAO office.
He decided to take Ms. Chonlathicha and SAO staff to assist villagers. With some snake-catching experience, he attempted to catch the python, initially thinking it was not too large. Upon arrival, they found the python was large—over 4.5 meters long. The mostly female team had to find wooden sticks and PVC pipes to pin the snake’s head before capturing the python's neck loop after more than 20 minutes of effort.
They tied the python's neck and placed it in the SAO pickup truck bed with license plate KTH 5408 Chachoengsao, as it was too big for a sack. The python was secured by tying a knot to the rear metal hook of the truck bed.
While driving back to release the python, it somehow escaped the tie in the truck bed and slithered onto the roof. Its tail caught on the driver’s side mirror, and its body slithered back toward the truck bed. Everyone in the vehicle was initially shocked and shouted, but after regaining composure, they laughed. They then exited from the other side to recapture the python and release it back into the wild.
Ms. Chonlathicha Nopasophon, a Chachoengsao provincial council member for Bang Nam Priao district, humorously recounted that she initially thought the snake was small and helped enthusiastically. But upon seeing the large snake, she was surprised. After the mission, villagers who had gathered eagerly asked for the vehicle’s license plate number to use for the upcoming lottery. At the same time, a lottery vendor passed by on a motorcycle, prompting many to quickly buy tickets with the vehicle’s plate numbers.
