Collision at Wat Jai Intersection in Chonburi: School Directors Car Crashes with Electric Vehicle, Two Seriously Injured

In Chonburi, a school director from Nonthaburi province was involved in a collision with an electric vehicle at the Wat Jai intersection, causing two people to suffer serious injuries and be hospitalized.

At 18:00 on 6 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Boonthip Jinda, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Bo Thong Police Station, received a report from the Sawang Het Ban Thung Hiang Phanat Nikhom Rescue Unit, Bo Thong branch, about a severe car collision with extensive damage and injured persons at the Kang Hai intersection, in front of the police booth, Village No. 2, Kaset Suwan Subdistrict, Bo Thong District, Chonburi Province. Upon receiving the report, he promptly went to the scene accompanied by rescue personnel from Sawang Het Ban Thung Hiang.

At the scene, a white AION electric vehicle with license plate 6ขฆ 3124 Bangkok was found with its front severely damaged and pressed against a utility pole. Nearby was a bronze Nissan sedan with license plate 9กฮ 9108 Bangkok, also heavily damaged at the rear and pressed against the electric car. The driver of the electric vehicle, 25-year-old Pornchai Chantaleat, and 19-year-old Pakara Meesuwan were both seriously injured. Rescue teams provided initial first aid before urgently transporting them to Bo Thong Hospital for treatment.

Mr. Narin Narinat, 50, the director of Khlong Khwang School in Sai Noi District, Nonthaburi Province, recounted that he had attended a funeral at Wat Thammarat in Bo Thong District and was on his way back to Rayong. He was driving normally when he reached the intersection, which had no traffic lights but only a yellow flashing signal. The accident happened very quickly, and he could not recall the exact details as he was still in shock from the incident.

Mrs. Pao, 70, a local resident near the scene, said she did not notice which direction the vehicles came from but heard a loud crash. When she looked, she saw both cars had already collided. She noted that accidents frequently occur at this intersection, with a recent collision happening not long ago, though not as severe. She urged drivers to slow down and carefully observe before crossing the intersection, prioritizing their own safety.

Police officials stated they would wait until the injured parties recover before conducting further investigations with both sides to proceed with legal actions accordingly.
