A major Kathina ceremony was held to extend the gift of breath to save many lives by raising funds for the construction and purchase of medical equipment for the Accident and Emergency building at Rajavithi Hospital.
At 07:30 on 7 June 2026, in the Pibulsongkram Room on the 12th floor of the Chalermprakiat Building at Rajavithi Hospital, Major General Female Officer Phrai Khaolopthuk, former director of the Army Nursing College and mother of General Pana Khaolopthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, presided as the lay chairman of the "Major Kathina Ceremony to Extend the Gift of Breath to Save Many Lives." Luang Por Saithong Techathammo of Wat Pa Huay Kum in Chaiyaphum province served as the Buddhist chairman. Dr. Jinda Rojanametin, director of Rajavithi Hospital and advisory committee member, Dr. Phairoj Khrueakanjana, deputy director for medical affairs, and medical staff of Rajavithi Hospital attended the ceremony. The total funds raised amounted to 184,480,363.46 baht.
Rajavithi Hospital is a tertiary care facility with 1,200 beds, providing medical services for over 75 years. It handles approximately 1,500,000 outpatient visits annually and more than 72,000 emergency accident cases per year. Currently, a new Accident and Emergency building is under construction to replace the old, deteriorated structure that no longer meets the increasing patient demand. The government has allocated 874.5 million baht for the main building structure, which will accommodate 190 beds and offer one-stop service while effectively handling emergencies and disasters. However, an additional budget of about 900 million baht is needed for interior finishing, extensions, and to procure medical devices and equipment. The facility is scheduled to open for patient services in June 2026.
To ensure the Accident and Emergency building can operate at full capacity as planned, support is being sought from benevolent donors. Accordingly, the Alumni Association of Boromarajonani College of Nursing Bangkok, together with Rajavithi Hospital, Rajavithi Hospital Foundation, Rajavithi Hospital Buddhist Club, Rangsit University Faculty of Medicine, Rangsit Medical Alumni Association, Dokbuakoo Company, and the Female Hospital Heirs Group have jointly organized the "Kathina Ceremony to Extend the Gift of Breath to Save Lives" project.
This Kathina ceremony invited participants to contribute 999 baht per donation group or donate according to their means to support the construction and purchase of medical equipment for Rajavithi Hospital's Accident and Emergency building. Donors can make contributions by transferring funds to Kasikorn Bank account number 029-260-5749, under the name Rajavithi Hospital Foundation, with a tax deduction benefit of double the donation. Alternatively, donations can be made in person at the Rajavithi Hospital Foundation office on the 1st floor of the Sirindhorn Building and the 2nd floor of the Tosamintrathiraj Building.
