Three strong-willed women fiercely punched a thief who snatched a necklace from a 73-year-old woman. The culprit eventually fell and brandished a knife to threaten the women before fleeing on a motorcycle. They showed remarkable courage in confronting the assailant.
On 7 June 2026, Sub-Lieutenant Pattharapon Supinklad, Deputy Investigator at Bang Bua Thong Police Station in Nonthaburi province, received a report of a stout man snatching a 3-baht gold necklace (approximately worth 90,000 baht) from a 73-year-old female victim. The victim sustained injuries with bleeding around her neck. The incident occurred earlier that morning around 07:00 within a village in Bang Rak Phatthana subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi.
Later, patrol officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station, accompanied by Mr. Watcharin Uotichat, a member of the Bang Rak Phatthana Municipal Council Zone 2, and Mrs. Kamollak Uotichat, assistant village headwoman of Village 10, Bang Rak Phatthana subdistrict, went to the scene. They found only blood stains, a shoe, and an umbrella inside the victim’s home. The injured woman was identified as Mrs. Cheng, aged 73, with wounds to her neck. Initially, her daughter had already taken her to Bang Bua Thong Hospital.
Closed-circuit camera footage captured the incident, showing a stout man about 165-170 cm tall riding a red motorcycle with an unknown license plate. He circled in front of the victim’s house 2-3 times before parking and rushing in to snatch the necklace. As he ran back to his motorcycle, a mother and daughter—good Samaritans—arrived on a motorcycle and witnessed the event. Together with the victim’s daughter, they relentlessly punched the assailant until his motorcycle fell. Seeing the situation worsening, the thief drew a knife and threatened to stab them. Everyone panicked and fled for safety, allowing the assailant to seize the chance to escape on his motorcycle and vanish without a trace.
Ms. Pitchathorn, 29, one of the good Samaritans, said she was riding with her mother to buy groceries when she noticed the elderly woman had fallen. At that moment, a man was with the elderly woman, and she thought he was helping her. Then she heard the victim’s daughter shouting for help, saying a thief was trying to steal gold. She stopped the motorcycle and ran with her mother and the victim’s daughter to grab the thief’s shirt and landed about 2-3 punches. The thief seemed overwhelmed and then pulled out a knife, threatening to kill her. Her mother told her to back away quickly.
She added that she felt no fear of injury or death, focusing only on helping the elderly woman. The victim’s daughter said that before the incident, her mother was standing in front of the house making merit by offering alms. The thief had approached the elderly woman several times, but she did not know him. The suspect is still at large, and there is a strong sense of insecurity. She urged the police to swiftly apprehend the suspect, considering him very dangerous.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ploy, 28, a neighbor, expressed fear about the lack of safety in the area, noting that there are many thieves around. This incident is not isolated; residents often talk about burglaries in various houses nearby. Her own neighbor was previously targeted. The neighborhood frequently experiences theft, robbery, and snatching incidents—almost weekly. She appealed to the police to be vigilant and increase patrols to protect the community more effectively.
