A naked man broke into the dorm room of a 16-year-old female student, who stayed remarkably calm. She tried to engage him in conversation and took photos, finding a moment when the intruder was distracted to narrowly escape.
On 8 June 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Prayong Kaewduangngam, investigator at Det Udom Police Station, received a report of a naked male intruder breaking into a women's dormitory along Highway 24, Muang Det Subdistrict, Det Udom District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. He coordinated with an undercover investigation team to inspect the scene, but the suspect had fled before officers arrived.
Upon inspecting the scene, which was the room of Ms. Nok (alias), a 16-year-old female student who was still visibly shaken, officers found signs of forced entry through the wooden slats at the back of the room. Nearby, they discovered the suspect's pants, shoes, and various tools left behind. These were collected as evidence.
Ms. Nuch (alias), 40, the dorm owner, revealed that the victim had called for help after the naked intruder broke into her room. The student remained composed and tried to talk to the intruder until he carelessly went to grab a towel from the kitchen to cover himself. Seizing the opportunity, she escaped safely without being assaulted.
The suspect is believed to be a local who was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. This incident caused many parents to request to move their children out of the dormitory. The dorm management is negotiating to reassure residents and is enhancing security by adding an extra layer of iron bars, increasing lighting, and installing additional CCTV cameras at the rear, supplementing the existing 16 cameras.
The victim urged fellow students to stay calm in emergencies, avoid panicking, and find ways to escape or record evidence if possible.
Regarding the case, Police Colonel Weeraphan Naksuk, superintendent of Det Udom Police Station, ordered the prevention and suppression inspector to consult with dorm owners about security measures. Meanwhile, investigators reported that photos taken by the victim on her mobile phone during the incident have identified the suspect as a local individual with a history of drug involvement. Authorities are currently intensifying efforts to apprehend him swiftly for legal action.
