The Department of Special Investigation, FDA, Department of Livestock Development, and Public Health authorities raided a factory illegally producing meatballs, pork sausage, and sausages for sale nationwide. They found unsanitary conditions and the use of fake and expired FDA registration numbers. Over 10,000 bags were seized, with production reaching approximately 30 tons per month nationwide.
On 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongkrit Lertsithikul, Commander of the Department of Special Investigation, ordered Pol. Col. Weerapong Klaithong, Commander of Division 4, and Pol. Lt. Col. Sitthapong Siriwat, Deputy Commander of Division 4, to join officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Livestock Development, and Pathum Thani Public Health Office to inspect a meat product factory in Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province, after reports of unauthorized production and sale of processed meat products.
Upon inspection, it was found that the factory produced and packed various processed meat products including meatballs, pork sausage, and sausages for distribution. The production premises were unsanitary. Mr. Atthaphon (surname withheld) identified himself as the business owner.
Initially, a large quantity of illegal food products was found, including six types without FDA registration numbers (FDA No.): 6,109 bags consisting of squid meatballs branded CFP, unbranded chicken tendon meatballs, beef meatballs branded CHALAME, chicken meatballs branded CHALAME, pork meatballs branded Ros Lert, and chicken sausage branded K@P.
Additionally, products bearing canceled FDA registration numbers were found—10 types totaling 2,507 bags. These included mini pork sausage, 100% Ubon black pepper pork sausage, Ubon black pepper pork sausage, grade A Ubon pork sausage branded PPM, pork tendon meatballs branded RF, black pepper pork sausage branded S. Korat, black pepper chicken sausage K&P, along with various meatballs and crab sticks from several brands.
At the same time, products with counterfeit FDA registration numbers were discovered—4 types totaling 1,800 bags. These included Ubon black pepper pork sausage, Mae Ploysuk branded Ubon pork sausage, Safee Moo branded Ubon pork sausage, and fried pork sausage branded Super Pork.
Officials also seized raw materials for production, including chicken meat, pork, beef, chicken skin, and beef tendons weighing over 800 kilograms, along with numerous production machines and equipment such as meat grinders, mixers, meatball molding machines, cooking pots, and conveyor belts.
Furthermore, over 20 brands of illegal processed meat products totaling 10,416 bags, along with machinery and raw materials, were confiscated. The total estimated damage exceeded 7 million baht.
Investigations revealed that the factory had previously held a production license, which expired on 31 December 2025 and was not renewed. Moreover, the production standards failed to meet legal hygiene and cleanliness requirements.
During interrogation, Mr. Atthaphon admitted that the factory had operated for about 10 years without renewing its production license. The factory produced various products including pork sausage, chicken sausage, chicken rolls, pork meatballs, beef meatballs, and chicken meatballs, distributed to customers nationwide. The factory's average monthly production was approximately 30 tons, generating over 3 million baht in monthly revenue.
Authorities collected product samples for analysis at the Department of Medical Sciences to monitor contamination with prohibited substances such as borax, preservatives, and pathogenic microorganisms. If tests reveal prohibited substances or contamination above standards, charges under the Food Act for "producing impure food" may apply, punishable by up to two years imprisonment, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both.
Preliminary charges were filed under the Food Act for "establishing a food production factory without a permit," "producing food for sale with incorrect labeling," "producing and selling counterfeit food," and "producing food after license expiration without renewal application." The suspect was detained and handed over to investigators in Division 4, Department of Special Investigation, for prosecution.
