The case involves Mr. Anon Kongkeng, 32, from Surin Province, who sped and rear-ended a motorcycle, causing two deaths: Ms. Thidarat Thonthong, 32, Anon's girlfriend, and Mr. Nattanon Jithan, 28, from Roi Et Province, a good Samaritan. Initially seen as an accident, investigators reviewed dashcam footage from Anon's car and believe he intentionally hit his girlfriend, who was fleeing threats and had gotten on the motorcycle driven by Nattanon. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on 8 Jun 2026 GMT+7 on Thung Pho-Tha Sawang Road in Mueang District, Surin Province, as previously reported.

The latest update: At 1 p.m. on 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Kanj Jithan and Mrs. Yupin Jithan, father and mother of Mr. Nattanon Jithan (known as Fuse), the good Samaritan, along with relatives and his girlfriend, went to the accident site to invite his spirit for a religious ceremony. Upon arrival, Mrs. Yupin saw her son's shoes and broke down in tears, creating a sorrowful atmosphere.

Mrs. Yupin tearfully said today is her son's birthday, but she has not made merit for him. She wishes for the perpetrator to die as well. She and her relatives refuse to forgive the offender and demand no apology at her son's funeral because they do not want to see his face.

Ms. Moss, girlfriend of Mr. Nattanon, said she had arranged with her boyfriend to celebrate his birthday today. On the day of the incident, he was riding to pick her up at the bus terminal but was involved in the accident while acting as a good Samaritan helping others. She is deeply saddened by the loss of her loved one.

Recently, Pol. Col. Akephong Pholmanee, superintendent of Mueang Surin Police Station, together with Pol. Lt. Col. Watcharapong Prombut, deputy chief of investigation, charged Mr. Anon with intentional homicide and property damage under Criminal Procedure Code sections 66(2), 66 (final paragraph), 78(3), and 80. Anon confessed to all charges but refused to apologize at the funeral, citing concerns for his safety.
