Sewing Siblings Seek Justice After Being Sued for 300,000 Baht Following Car Pawn Victimization

Sewing siblings appealed to the Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police after becoming defendants sued for 300,000 baht, despite previously filing a lawsuit against a group of car pawn investors accused of embezzlement.  They are now seeking justice.

On 9 June 2026 at the Pathum Thani Provincial Police Headquarters, Mrs. Chompoo, 53, and Miss Thidarat, 42, who are relatives, submitted a letter requesting justice from Police Major General Peeraphon Chotikasathien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police. They had initially filed a lawsuit against a group of car pawn investors on charges of embezzlement. However, they suddenly became defendants charged with giving false testimony and causing harm, with the opposing party suing them for 300,000 baht. They are distressed because they live in hardship, working as sewing laborers earning just enough to get by day to day.

Police Major General Peeraphon Chotikasathien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, stated that the allegations need to be examined to determine if any investigators or police officers were involved in misleading the victims or providing incomplete information that caused later harm. The victims suffered delays in reclaiming their pawned cars and had to make monthly payments despite not having the vehicles. An investigation will be expanded to see if others, including legal entities or companies, were involved in the wrongdoing. To ensure fairness to both sides, he has ordered Police Colonel Pongphet Chuljamroensap, Investigation Division Chief, and Police Lieutenant Athiwat Wangnithat, to expedite the inquiry and track the victims' vehicles' whereabouts.

He also advised the public to base their police reports strictly on their own facts and not to be misled by others’ instructions, which could result in losing their vehicle and even being sued in return. Regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct by police officers towards the victims, an internal investigation committee will be established to interview both victims about the officers’ behavior. If other victims have experienced similar misconduct, they are encouraged to report it. Disciplinary action will follow if the allegations are confirmed, but only after a factual investigation. He assured that any proven misconduct will lead to immediate disciplinary measures since police maintain strict discipline.

Miss Thidarat, 42, said that she and her sister came to request justice from Police Major General Peeraphon Chotikasathien regarding a car pawn case. On 4 August 2025, she pawned her car for 20,000 baht with a car pawn page, agreeing on a one-month term. When the term ended on 4 September 2025, she attempted to redeem the car but could not contact the pawn service. Despite repeated demands, the service closed their page and blocked all contact channels, including Facebook, Line, and phone, making it impossible to reach them to this day. She has evidence of this. Unable to contact them, she and her sister filed a complaint with the Khlong Luang Police Station, where the car was handed over, on 12 September 2025. Although her sister was the plaintiff, she unexpectedly became a defendant without understanding the law. On 23 May 2026, her sister faced a summons to pay damages of 300,000 baht. The case flipped, turning them from plaintiffs into defendants, and they are now being sued themselves.

Miss Thidarat expressed despair, saying that she and her sister are greatly troubled. They cannot use their car but still must make payments on the car key. She urged anyone considering pawning their car to demand identification evidence from the other party and keep proof of the transaction. She warned the public not to easily trust anyone and hoped her case serves as a cautionary tale against falling victim to such scams. Regarding the investigation officers’ inappropriate behavior, including yelling and threats that caused her fear of unfair treatment, she reported this to the Pathum Thani police chief and the media.
