Heavy Rain in Krabi Causes Flooding, Forcing Evacuation of Over 500 Residents

Heavy rain continued for several hours. This caused floodwaters to overflow into residential homes in the Ao Luek Tai municipality area of Krabi province, prompting urgent evacuation of more than 500 residents fleeing the flood.

At 7:00 p.m. on 10 June 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after hours of continuous heavy rainfall, floodwaters have inundated homes in the Ao Luek Tai municipality area of Ao Luek district, Krabi province. The flooding affected Suk Sawat Alley in the Khlong Klang community, Village No. 7, which has over 200 densely populated households.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nawakon Sangkaew, Mayor of Ao Luek Tai Municipality, mobilized Disaster Prevention and Mitigation volunteers and municipal officials to urgently evacuate more than 500 residents. The municipality designated Ao Luek Prachasarn School as a temporary shelter area for evacuees.

Mr. Nawakon revealed that this area is a low-lying point within the Ao Luek Tai municipality adjacent to a canal, causing severe flooding. Water levels rose above one meter with strong currents. Throughout the afternoon, heavy rain fell continuously, overwhelming drainage capacity and rapidly flooding the community.

Furthermore, water levels are expected to rise as warnings predict rain for the next two to three days. Initially, the municipality has arranged temporary shelter areas for residents.
