The vehicle used for today's funeral procession is a gray Volkswagen with a blue stripe, license plate 1ด-0929. It is a Volkswagen T4 long-wheelbase model, known as "James Bond" because it was the royal vehicle of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, used for official duties over many years. It is a simple working royal car that reflects the philosophy of sufficiency economy.
This vehicle also served to escort the royal funerals of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, upon their passing.
