The incident occurred in Nakhon Sawan Province where a 45-year-old man stormed a convenience store and shot a female employee, seriously injuring her before she later died at the hospital. The perpetrator then took his own life to avoid prosecution.
At 23:50 on 13 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sek San Sukkasem, an investigator at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, received a report of a shooting inside a convenience store in Village No. 4, Ban Kaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province. He informed his superiors and led officers to investigate the scene along with rescue workers from Chao Pho Guan Yu Foundation - Nakhon Sawan Rescue, forensic officials, and the on-call physician from Sawanpracharak Hospital.
Initially, Police Colonel Phumirapee Phalaphum, superintendent of Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phisut Rungkling, deputy superintendent of crime suppression, Police Lieutenant Colonel Somsak Chongthum, deputy investigator, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Pornchai Khunpileukludech, deputy chief of investigation, jointly conducted a thorough inspection of the crime scene.
Inside the store, the body of Mr. Wasan Phetto, also known as Mr. San, age 46, a resident of Ban Kaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province, was found deceased at the scene. Initial examination revealed a gunshot wound penetrating from the right side of the head to the left, with a firearm and magazine found near the body.
Meanwhile, Ms. Thanyaphat, age 34, from Nakhon Sawan Tok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province, a female employee at the store, suffered severe injuries from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Rescue workers from the Chao Pho Guan Yu Foundation and medical staff from Sawanpracharak Hospital provided initial aid before rushing her to the hospital for emergency treatment. She later died at Sawanpracharak Hospital (Khao Khiao branch).
An employee named Mr. A (pseudonym), who was present during the incident, revealed that before the shooting, the deceased man entered the store as usual and spoke with the female employee while she was arranging merchandise. There was no sign of argument or violent behavior. The employee reportedly said only, "I’m working," before two gunshots were heard. When he looked, both the man and woman had fallen inside the store. He then called the police.
The employee added that he had worked at the store for about four months and knew only that the deceased man had frequently come to talk with the female employee. He was unaware of any personal details concerning their relationship.
Police officials disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed the deceased had been drinking at a nearby restaurant before coming to the convenience store. After browsing for some time, he saw the woman working alone arranging goods, approached her from behind, and shot her in the back of the head. He then shot himself in the head, dying instantly. The woman was still alive with a pulse, so she was rushed to the hospital but later died there.
It is known that Mr. San had been courting Ms. Thanyaphat for some time, but it is believed she did not reciprocate as she already had a boyfriend. The woman had worked at the store for nearly a year and was considered attractive, which drew frequent attention from men.
Investigators and the police team will collect evidence, review surveillance footage from inside and around the store, and interview relevant witnesses in detail to determine the facts and cause of the incident before concluding the case file.
