Disaster Operations Center Reveals Cause of 6.7 Magnitude Earthquake in Indonesia

"Disaster Operations Center" reveals the cause of the "earthquake" magnitude 6.7 in Indonesia caused by movement along the Sausu Fault; no impact on Thailand


On 16 June 2026, FacebookDisaster Operations Center, Department of Mineral Resourcesposted a message stating, "On 16 June 2026 at 10:27 AM (Thailand time), a magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred on land at a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicenter near Palu city, Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia, about 46 kilometers southeast.

The cause was movement along the Sausu Fault in a normal fault style, causing residents in the area to feel tremors. Initially, no damage has been reported. This earthquake does not affect Thailand. Further details will be reported as available."
