Parents Heartbroken as 10-Year-Old Boy Drowns After Playing in Water Post-School

A tragic event occurred when a 10-year-old boy, trying to cool off from the heat, invited friends to play in the water after school but drowned and died in front of them. His parents came to see the body, crying inconsolably.

On 20 Jun 2026, it was reported that at 18:00 on 19 Jun, Police Lieutenant Chutiwat Thontan, the investigating officer at Bo Thong Police Station, Chonburi Province, received a report from Sawang Thung Hiang Rescue Unit, Bo Thong station, about a missing child in an earthen pond. Upon notification, he proceeded to the scene and coordinated with diving rescue teams and volunteers to assist in the search.

The scene was at Village 3, Ban Ang Khrapong, Kaset Suwan Subdistrict, Bo Thong District, Chonburi Province. It was a large earthen pond about 20 meters wide and approximately 4 meters deep, dug to store water for agricultural use. There was one missing child reported in the pond.

Officials questioned friends who were present before sending diving teams to search. After about an hour, they found the missing child’s body, identified as 10-year-old Nattawut, or “Nong Arm.” The body was retrieved from the water and handed over to medical personnel for further procedures.

According to the victim’s friends, after school they gathered to play near the pond due to the hot weather. Nong Arm said he wanted to swim, and they warned him not to go into the deep water.

However, Nong Arm jumped into the pond and tried to throw a black cloth to his friends to hold onto for support, but they couldn’t hold it. He then drowned right before their eyes. The friends quickly got out of the water and sought help.

After the incident, Nong Arm’s family arrived at the scene. Upon seeing their son’s body, they cried bitterly, devastated by the tragedy.

Initially, police recorded information at the scene and interviewed witnesses to proceed with formalities. They also warned parents to closely watch their children, especially during school breaks or after school, and to avoid letting them play in deep, unsupervised water areas to prevent potential tragedies.
