Second Army Region Clarifies Explosion Sounds on Sisaket Border, Finds No Evidence of Thai Troops Using Weapons

"Second Army Region" Clarifies explosion sounds on the Sisaket border, finds no evidence of Thai troops using weapons, emphasizes adherence to facts and restraint.

On 22 June 2026, the Second Army Region addressed claims about explosion sounds near Huai Tamaria in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, around 05:50 a.m. that day, which were suggested to possibly result from Thai forces using weapons.

The Second Army Region revealed that, after verifying facts with military units operating in the area, troops heard three explosions simultaneously. However, based on the nature and direction of the sounds, it is reasonably believed the source originated from Cambodian-controlled territory. There is no evidence or reports that Thai forces used weapons or took actions causing the incident.

Furthermore, the Second Army Region noted that explosions have occasionally been heard in the border area over time, possibly due to various factors such as explosive use in construction or quarrying activities, or wild animals stepping on unexploded ordnance remaining in Cambodian territory. Therefore, the true cause cannot be concluded until a thorough investigation is completed.

The Second Army Region stressed that identifying weapon types or speculating about the explosion source based solely on conjecture could lead to misunderstandings and affect border relations. Hence, they adhere to presenting information verified and supported by credible evidence.

In addition, the Second Army Region affirmed that all personnel perform their duties with restraint, within legal frameworks, international standards, and relevant agreements, prioritizing the maintenance of peace and safety for residents in border areas, while closely monitoring the situation and coordinating continuously with relevant agencies.

They also requested public cooperation to exercise discretion when receiving information, follow official news sources, and trust that the Second Army Region will operate transparently, carefully, and based on facts, for the greatest benefit of the nation and its people.
