25 June 2026 GMT+7Meteorological Departmentissued the second statement on the Near Coast of Venezuela earthquake, stating, "The latest data shows that on 25 June 2026 at 05:04 GMT+7, an earthquake occurred with its epicenter near the coast of Venezuela at 10.41 degrees north latitude and 68.56 degrees west longitude, magnitude 6.8, depth 10 kilometers, with no impact on Thailand.

Later, at 09:00 GMT+7, the magnitude was updated from 6.8 to 7.2 based on the moment magnitude scale, depth 20.3 kilometers at latitude 10.436 degrees north and longitude 68.528 degrees west. Additional reports noted another nearby earthquake on 25 June 2026 at 05:05 GMT+7, with an epicenter near the coast of Venezuela at 10.453 degrees north latitude and 68.572 degrees west longitude, magnitude 7.5 by moment magnitude scale, depth 10 kilometers.

Both events were onshore earthquakes originating from the Bocono fault, exhibiting a right-lateral strike-slip fault mechanism.

Near the epicenter, maximum intensity reached IX on the Mercalli scale, causing severe building damage and partial collapse near Yumare city in Yaracuy state, in the northwest of Venezuela. Further details will be provided promptly as available.
