Praised widely as a “heroic police officer,” an officer tactically crawled low to safely help a stressed man sitting dangerously on a pedestrian bridge come down safely without injury.
At 12:00 on 25 June 2026, the radio center of Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station received a report of a man attempting to jump from a pedestrian bridge in front of Major Cineplex Rangsit, Prachathipat Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province.
After receiving the report, Police Colonel Adirek Pothipan, Chief of Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Nattawat Thakoonchaikorn, Deputy Chief of the Police Station, and Police Lieutenant Pongsak Phetsanghan, Head of the Patrol Unit, ordered an urgent rescue operation. Lieutenant Colonel Panthach Treekon, head of the patrol operation team, led officers to successfully approach and safely bring the man down.
Lieutenant Colonel Panthach Treekon revealed that before the incident, the patrol officers had just finished a drill at Robinson Department Store. Upon returning to the station, they received the emergency call and immediately rushed to the scene.
Arriving at the scene, they found traffic police officers talking with the man to buy time and distract him, while coordinating with Rangsit Municipality to provide an air cushion. However, assessment showed they could not afford to wait any longer, as the man might decide to jump. The officer then instructed the traffic police on the opposite side of the pedestrian bridge to continue talking with him, while he himself crawled low to avoid drawing attention or making noise. Slowly, he crawled closer and then safely charged and grabbed the man.
Initial checks showed the man, aged 36, was uninjured. After calming him at Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station, the man said he was stressed due to family rejection. He had no history of drug involvement but was carrying sedative medication. It was suspected he had not eaten properly and missed taking his medication, leading to accumulated stress.
Recently, police coordinated with the Pathum Thani Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office to take the man into care and provide support according to procedures.
