Urgent: Department of Local Administration Cancels Order to Suspend Local Official Appointments, Protects Honest Candidates

The acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration signed an urgent order cancelling the suspension of appointments for local officials, protecting candidates who passed the exams honestly and serving the interests of government, and ensuring the proper conduct of official duties.

On 25 June 2026, the Department of Local Administration issued an urgent order letter No. MorTor 0809.5/W 37 concerning the cancellation of the suspension of appointments for candidates who passed the competitive exams, effective 1 July 2026.

The letter states that the Department of Local Administration had submitted a list of candidates who passed the competitive exams and wished to be appointed to positions requested by local administrative organizations to the Central Committee for the Local Official Competitive Examination (CCLOCE) for processing. The appointments were to take effect starting 1 July 2026.
Furthermore, the department had previously instructed to suspend the appointments of candidates on the attached list as per the Department's letter No. MorTor 0809.5/W 27 dated 16 June 2026.
Details are as referenced in the cited letter.

The Department of Local Administration informs that the Provincial Committee (PC), Bangkok Metropolitan Committee (BMC), and Subdistrict Administrative Organization Committee (SAOC), in their 6/2569 meeting on 25 June 2026, resolved that in cases where investigations into exam fraud for local official appointments are ongoing by relevant authorities with unknown completion dates, to ensure the proper implementation of competitive exams and protect honest candidates, the suspension of appointments as per the Department's urgent letter No. MorTor 0809.5/W 35 dated 24 June 2026 shall be lifted.

If evidence emerges that any appointed official or employee was involved in bribery or fraud to pass the exam, they shall be disqualified, permanently barred from applying for local official exams, and subject to civil, criminal, disciplinary, and administrative penalties. Provinces are therefore requested to inform local administrative organizations to proceed with appointments of the listed candidates.
This is in accordance with the attached list in the Department's letter No. MorTor 0809.5/W 27 dated 16 June 2026.
Candidates are also instructed to report for duty on 1 July 2026.

This is submitted for your consideration and further action.

Respectfully yours,

(Mr. Thanon Praphipas)
Deputy Director-General Acting on Behalf of
Director-General of the Department of Local Administration
