Meteorological Department Issues Second Warning: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain and Strong Waves in the Andaman Sea from 28 June to 3 July

The Meteorological Department has issued the second bulletin warning "Heavy to very heavy rain" especially in the eastern region and the western coast of the south from 28 June to 3 July 2026, with the upper Andaman Sea under watch for strong waves and winds.

On 27 June 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued Bulletin No. 2 on heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea. It stated that from 28 June to 3 July 2026, rainfall will increase with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, particularly in the eastern region and the western coast of the south. This is due to a monsoon trough passing over the north and upper northeast regions, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. People in these areas are advised to beware of the dangers from heavy and accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and runoff, especially in foothill areas near watercourses and lowlands.

Regarding the sea conditions in the upper Andaman Sea, winds will be quite strong from 29 June to 3 July 2026, with waves 2-3 meters high; in areas with thunderstorms, waves will exceed 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves around 2 meters high, rising above 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should navigate cautiously and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain in port during this period.
