Deputy Tao Urgently Flies to Songkhla to Question Phuket Provincial Clerk Reveals Subject Has Yet to Provide Information

Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew Urgently flew to Songkhla to personally question the Phuket Provincial Clerk, revealing that the subject has yet to provide information. Authorities are preparing to gather evidence to further develop the case.


On the evening of 26 June 2026, the Department of Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Prevention (DACMP) executed an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 9, detaining Mr. Rungreung Thimabut, Phuket Provincial Clerk, at his residence in Phuket city. Officers presented the warrant and read the suspect's rights before immediately taking him to be further questioned at the Phuket Provincial Police headquarters conference room.

Later, after questioning throughout the previous night, officers transferred custody of the Phuket Provincial Clerk by van to Songkhla Province, the location of the incident, to present him before the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 9, as previously reported.(The Phuket Provincial Clerk was taken under custody en route to Songkhla after officers spent the entire night questioning him.)

Most recently, at 10:00 a.m. on 27 June 2026, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, traveled to Songkhla Province and personally took custody of Mr. Rungreung Thimabut from the detention room at Mueang Songkhla Police Station for questioning amid a large number of reporters waiting outside the police station.

After completing the questioning, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat emerged and was asked by reporters whether the case is an old one or related to the current exam fraud scandal. He replied that he cannot provide information yet, as evidence is still being gathered. An official press conference will be held soon.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat added that the questioning of Mr. Rungreung involved minor inquiries, but the subject has not yet provided any information. Police are continuing to collect evidence to further develop the investigation.
