"Meteorological Department" (Meteorological Department) Issues Warning No. 5 for heavy to very heavy rain; check provinces expected to be affected, with possible flash floods and mountain runoff.
28 June 2026 GMT+7Meteorological DepartmentAnnounces "Heavy to very heavy rain over Thailand and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea, Warning No. 5 (95/2569), effective from 28 June to 3 July 2026." It states that from 28 June to 3 July 2026, Thailand will experience increased rainfall with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, especially in the eastern region and the western side of the southern region. This is due to a monsoon trough crossing the North and Upper Northeast, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
People in these areas are advised to beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying areas.
The upper Andaman Sea will have relatively strong winds from 29 June to 3 July 2026, with waves 2-3 meters high. Areas with thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves around 2 meters, and over 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are urged to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from leaving shore during this period for safety.
For safety and to minimize impacts, the public is advised to plan their activities and travel carefully during this period. People should follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information at the department's website http://www.tmd.go.th or call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
