On 29 June 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued announcement No. 6 regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea (effective from 29 June to 3 July 2026).
It states that from 29 June to 3 July 2026, Thailand will experience increased rainfall with some areas seeing heavy to very heavy rain, especially in the eastern and western southern regions. This is due to a monsoon trough passing through the northern and upper northeastern parts, combined with strengthening southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents in these areas should be alert to dangers from heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying areas.
Regarding the upper Andaman Sea, winds will be quite strong from 29 June to 3 July 2026, with waves 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, rising above 2 meters where thunderstorms occur.
Boaters in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from going out during this period.
For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public should plan their activities and travel during this time carefully. The Meteorological Department urges everyone to follow updates from their announcements and monitor information on their website.http://www.tmd.go.thor call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
