Officials are urgently investigating over 10,000 methamphetamine pills after a dog carried a black plastic bag out from roadside grass, believed to belong to dealers who placed it there awaiting delivery to customers.
On 29 Jun 2026, Mr. Dechin Phanmeesuk, Security Deputy District Chief of Huai Rat District, Buriram Province, Sergeant Major Sairung Chuenchoo, Chief of Administrative Group, along with local administrative officers and investigators from Huai Rat Police Station, were inspecting and counting six bundles of methamphetamine, approximately 12,000 pills, seized from roadside grass along Huai Rat–Satuek Road, Ban Muang Pho, Village No. 6, Muang Pho Subdistrict, Huai Rat District, Buriram Province.
This followed an intelligent dog that carried a black plastic bag from the roadside grass during the night of 28 Jun 2026. A good Samaritan noticed the tightly taped black bag, which showed signs of dog bites, and alerted authorities. Upon inspection, it was found to contain methamphetamine, believed to have been placed by dealers awaiting delivery to customers but was carried out by the dog and reported to officials for seizure.
Mr. Dechin Phanmeesuk, Security Deputy District Chief of Huai Rat District, Buriram Province, stated that this seizure of six bundles, about 12,000 pills, is the largest batch ever found in Huai Rat. Authorities have continuously monitored dealers and users in the area. Previously, seizures typically involved only one or two bundles, with each bundle containing about 2,000 to 4,000 pills.
If this batch had escaped detection, it would have caused widespread drug abuse and serious harm to the local community. Officials are currently counting the pills to confirm the exact quantity and to check if all bags contain only methamphetamine or if some contain other substances. They are working quickly to trace the source and expand efforts to dismantle the drug trafficking network involved.
