The Meteorological Department issued its 7th announcement stating that Thailand will see increased rainfall with very heavy rain in some areas. Flash floods may occur in foothill regions. The upper Andaman Sea will experience strong waves and winds, with impacts lasting until 3 July 2026 GMT+7.
At 17:00 on 29 June 2026 GMT+7, the Meteorological Department released Announcement No. 7 (97/2569) regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand and strong waves in the upper Andaman Sea (effective from 29 June to 3 July 2026). It stated that from 29 June to 3 July 2026, Thailand will experience increased rainfall with some areas seeing heavy to very heavy rain, especially in the eastern region and the western southern region. This is due to a monsoon trough passing over the north and upper northeast, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents in these areas are urged to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands.
Regarding sea conditions, the upper Andaman Sea will have fairly strong winds from 29 June to 3 July 2026, with waves 2-3 meters high. In areas with thunderstorms, waves will exceed 3 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, with waves over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore during this period.
