The Eastern Task Force confirms it has not declared a "curfew" at Ban Nong Jan but has ordered a nighttime ban on entering the area around boundary markers 46-47 due to outsiders entering to create content.
On the evening of 29 June 2026, Lt. Col. Nattawut Somphrom, commander of the Khok Sung Task Force, signed an urgent announcement under the Martial Law Act of 1914, prohibiting civilians from entering the military-occupied area along boundary markers 46 to 47 east of Sri Phen Road, Ban Nong Jan, Non Mak Mun Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. This aims to prevent hostile groups, with two strict control measures added:
1. Civilians are prohibited from entering the area under any circumstances from 18:00 to 06:00 the next day, but are not forbidden from leaving their homes or traveling generally.
2. Only local residents who own farmland may enter for agricultural work between 06:00 and 18:00. They must carry their ID cards, show proof of identity, and register with officials each time. This announcement takes effect immediately today.
Meanwhile, military engineers have been rushing to install additional concertina wire densely to block natural pathways along the border between checkpoints S.40 and S.41 in Ban Nong Jan.
Recently, a source from the Eastern Task Force, First Army, clarified that while the area is under martial law, this is not a curfew declaration. A curfew means banning people from leaving their homes, but this case imposes additional measures to prohibit nighttime entry around boundary markers 46-47 east of Sri Phen Road. This is because outsiders have been entering to create content, so the restriction is a precaution for safety.
At 18:55, Maj. Gen. Winthai Suwaree, Army spokesperson, said regarding the recent Khok Sung Task Force announcement that it is not a curfew forbidding residents from leaving home, but a regulation banning entry into the military-controlled area around boundary markers 46-47 east side. The army will provide further details later.
At 19:15, Lt. Gen. Worayos Luangsuwan, First Army Commander, confirmed there is no ban on leaving home; it is a measure to control the border area beyond Sri Phen Road. The Eastern Task Force will provide an official explanation.
