Chairman of the Thai Airways board "Loworn" has ordered management to clarify the ban on carrying items following the incident of a "female flight attendant arrested" for trafficking drugs into Australia
At 13:40 on 30 June 2026, Mr. Loworn Saengsnit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and chairman of the board of Thai Airways Public Company Limited, revealed that regarding the case of a Thai Airways crew member transporting illegal items during a flight from Thailand to Australia,
we must wait for the facts to determine whether the crew member intended to transport the items themselves or was deceived into carrying illegal items. Meanwhile, he has instructed Thai Airways management to review the company’s regulations to see if there are any weaknesses, aiming to tighten them further.
This is to prevent a recurrence. The company’s regulations already prohibit carrying items for others, but this incident has damaged the reputation of Thai Airways and Thailand.
However, management must examine whether existing regulations have any loopholes or need further improvement to prevent such incidents. These matters have not occurred for a very long time. The airline awaits investigation results from the police and the internal fact-finding committee of Thai Airways.
